Fast track to your next credit card

Posted on : 30-09-2008 | By : admin | In : Banking, Credit Cards, Online Tools

With the crumbling of many Wall Street banks and financial institutions, I’m considering to consolidate all my expenses into a single Credit Card, one that really fits my needs and that offers real advantages against the rest.

As with my last card, I’ve run an Online Credit Card search at http://www.cardhub.com/ as it is the best way to find the card you really need instead of through dozens of useless offers. Once you decide what cards you need, they simply send you the ones you picked, so you don’t waste time reading through the mail.

And since we’re on the “time-saving” subject, you also save a lot of time while searching, since you narrow the results you get exactly what you want, not what a company’s computer thinks you need.  Not looking for gas cards? Just untick them from the search form and it won’t show them in the results.

After you decided upon one or a few cards, you can then safely and securely apply for the card(s). After that, you’ll be notified very soon if your card was issued or whether the application was rejected for some reason. It can’t get any faster and simpler than that. Can it?

Supporting Your Small Business

Posted on : 30-09-2008 | By : admin | In : Management, Tips

Many times setting up small businesses are easy but running them successfully is very difficult. Statistics shows that more than 50 percent of newly formed small businesses do not run into second year – they collapse. Although the major causes for this collapse are poor money management and poor resource management there is one another cause – poor support.

A successfully running small business need plenty of support; support as money, as systems, as workforce, as time and as plans. Money is perhaps the most difficult support to arrange, but once it is arranged you can feel that you are in a better position to arrange all other support. One of the most favorite ways to arrange support is in partnerships or in mutual understandings; you help them and they help you.

With respect to your need of support, they can be of plenty of types – those you need continuously and constantly, those you need frequently and those you need rarely. For supports that you need continuously you should look for buying/arranging permanent and cost-efficient systems which are scalable to your needs. For supports you need frequently, you should look for options like partnerships, pay-as-you-use, and mutual understandings. And for systems that you are going to use rarely, you can afford to plan those with respect to the time of need.

When the tough gets going…

Posted on : 30-09-2008 | By : admin | In : Finance, Loans, business

This information is for all those people in Texas, who have been paying huge debts for a long time intensively and may be considering filing for bankruptcy.

With the high price of oil, not to mention the impending collapse of the US financial system, a lot of things have gotten very expensive too and many people have a hard time paying for their homes, their businesses, etc. In this situation, many start thinking about filing for bankruptcy but not many know how to do that and if it’s convenient for every situation.

As a matter of fact, we all know what bankruptcy means: a process, in which a debtor is unable to pay his debts, loans etc and all his possessions are taken into custody by the creditor(s). Many times, this sad situation arises even in those who pay their debts perfectly. In order to make sure that you won’t find yourself in this unwilling situation some time in the future, I strongly recommend you to calculate your credit card balances which is available in this Texas Bankruptcy site.

An automated system assists you to find all the sources of debt you currently have and helps you to find out how much you actually owe. It may sound strange that you don’t know that already but there are some hidden charges and payments you may not be aware of. At the very least, it will save you the time of calculating it yourself.

In order to give a fresh start to a genuine Texan debtor, knowing about the state’s Bankruptcy laws comes in handy with them. You can do this by filling up a bankruptcy form, which are available at the same site.

According to current Texas Bankruptcy Laws, a debtor can regain some of his possessions under some situations, so if you’re considering filing for bankruptcy, you’ll want to check the Bankruptcy Information provided at this. After all, it may be a life-saver (or a home-saver).

Forks in the road to the Mobile Web

Posted on : 30-09-2008 | By : admin | In : Business Opportunities, Communications, Internet, business

Rory Cellan Jones asks “which way to the mobile web

How do you get the mobile internet? Via wi-fi – or perhaps through one of those dongles that you plug into a laptop?

Many using laptop Wi-fi and 3G have been battling it out for the last few years to be the technology that keeps you connected on the move. But today 3G gets a big boost, with the unveiling of an alliance between leading computer manufacturers and mobile operators to promote devices with mobile broadband built in.

The answer right now is both. Neither is good enough to be compelling as a single solution.

Technically the user sees very little difference. Right now, 3G has better coverage, WiFi usually has better speed.

Economically, there is little to choose between them IF you are paying for WiFi – what is shifting is that WiFi is increasingly being given away for free in “fixed mobile” places – ie places where you sit down, even when you are on the move – coffee shops etc. However, as Rory notes, the grand plans to create WiFi municipalities has died, as did those for WiFi ISPs in 2002/3, the technology still doesn’t lend itself well to more than local area broadcast.

Who will win in the future is the person who can make the best convergent platform:

The trouble is that, for most users, dealing with two rival connection methods is a lot of hassle and can prove expensive – especially if you go abroad. We need to know that we can move effortlessly between different wi-fi zones and providers and then onto the 3G network when appropriate. Steve Andrews of BT says providers around the world are working to make that happen: “Our mission is to make it seamless,” he says.

We welcome the day….and a seamless bill as well would be very nice.

Where will they be in a year’s time, I wonder?

Posted on : 30-09-2008 | By : admin | In : Business Opportunities, Communications, Internet, business

There is an interesting piece on Business Week (link tip via Drew Benvie) on the 25 most influential people on the Web right now. Interesting in 2 respects:

- It would seem, according to Business Week anyway, that the long tail starts early – from Rupert Murdoch, Google and Yahoo to still fairly small scale startups in 25 steps. No space for Sir Tim, then ;-)

- In its way, its a marker of the zenith of the Web 2.0 movement, as a number of the people are counted as influential principally as players in the Web 2.0 firmament.

Timing, as they say, is everything – this was no doubt commissioned pre-meltdown. Given the changes in the funding markets that has become clear in the last few weeks, it is very unlikely that many of the FreeConomic funded Web 2.0 plays will see out another year, relying as they do on Other People’s Money for funding (ooops) and being sold to companies whose own stock is under pressure for an exit event (those that have got in their money for the Nuclear Winter will be fine*, others will probably follow Wall St to the wall). (To be fair, I think all the small companies here have found funding recently)

Our own view – the big players have still got cash, but the current market will see a move to quality and proven capability. Read it yourself and work out who you think will be around same time, next year. Answers on a postcard in the comments below ;-)

The other thing in Drew’s post that is interesting is this article from Management Today about the Gen Y(oof) and their expectations from Work 2.0:

It splits workers up into ages; generation Y, X and baby boomers. The article and the research behind it talks about how the 30 and under generation has had and wants many different jobs and is used to prosperity.

“Portfolio careers, switching industries, career breaks, flexible working, a more objective view of one’s value in the market, are all defining features of Work 2.0, this new world of work which Generation Y is helping to create,” says the article. But it concludes with a thought – what about when the market falters, how will work 2.0 cope then?

How indeed? It remains to be seen how much of the Shiny New New Media World is mere froth on the latte……. big losers will be those with high cost bases, those who operate on shoestrings are the “cockroaches of the Nuclear Winter” as Will McInnes puts it ;-)

*Fred Wilson makes exactly this same point here.
