Web 2.0 is 4 years old, so what will the Next web look like?

There is an interesting article (and useful graphic) by Hutch Carpenter today, picking up a Tim O’Reilly post reminding people that the original concept of Web 2.0 was far wider than just Social Media (in fact, in the original definition Social Media hardly featured it).

Over the summer we’ve been doing a little bit of analysis of where the Web is going, and I’ve done a little summary below, and so here is a chart extrapolating the original Web 2.0 concepts into what we see as very possible “next phase” evolutions (I’ve risked using the term “Web 3.0″ for the next evolution too ;-) ).

From Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 – Trends in motion

There are other trends in the mix of course, this is just a way of showing how things may evolve using the Web 2.0 framework. Our thinking is in what I’d call “Alpha” stage at the moment – ie we’ve shared it with a few knowledgeable people, so I guess by blogging it its going into a Beta mode.
now -)

Thoughts are welcome therefore.
