Bad Websites

Posted on : 14-09-2009 | By : admin | In : Internet, business

Whenever you come across a bad website what do you usually do? I mean even if that website contains or offers the stuff that you are looking for you still end up closing it and your look for alternatives. This is a normal case most especially if you are having a hard time navigating.

You would think that over the past 10 years of internet, that websites would be of higher and better quality as compared before. But sadly this is not the case; there are just as many bad websites out there than ever before.

Since we are already discussing stuff about bad websites, I think that it is just fitting that we discuss some tips to help avoid building a bad website.

1. Before you publish a website make sure that you are 100% ready. One of the reasons why some entrepreneurs end up with a bad website is because they failed to plan for it. You should only invest on a website when you are ready to spend time and money in developing your website.

2. Entrusting your website to the pros. You may be one of many entrepreneurs out there who knows basic HTML and basic graphic design, however to avoid a bad website you have got to hire professionals to complete the job for you. It would be great if you can provide your own personal style to the site. An amateurish site is synonymous to a bad website. Your customers might think that you are not serious and you are not credible enough to handle their demands.

A bad website is just one reason why your prospects think twice about doing business with you, so do not give them a reason to leave you. Right now you might feel that you cannot afford the services of a professional website developer or website designer it would be advisable for you to wait until you are able to afford one or wait until you can work out a payment plan.

3. Have a clear objective in mind. A bad website is one which does not have a clear purpose. What is the main purpose if this website you have developed? Your website should support your business goal and should be in lieu with your marketing strategy. Avoid being one of those entrepreneurs, who plunged right into website developments without a clear purpose, hence the result was a bad website.

Starting A Home Business

Posted on : 04-09-2009 | By : admin | In : Internet, business

Many people have dreamed of owning their own business. In this difficult times where many people have been laid-off, plenty of individuals are looking into starting a home business. The sad part is not many people know how to go about starting a home business. Nothing comes the easy way most especially if know nothing about it. The same thing goes in starting a home business. There are some essential things that you have to know in order for it to work out.

1. In starting a home based business always keep in mind that you must treat your business as a business. If you are serious about starting a home based business then you must know that it is not just a hobby, it is something more than that especially if you do not have a full time job. You have the luxury of setting your own hours and work when you want, but that does not mean you should work whenever you feel like it. Set your working hours and make sure that you abide by them and for sure starting a home business will be a breeze for you.

2. When starting a home business you should be aware that you would have to invest a lot of time and in some cases money to make your home business work. You are going to have to treat your business like a business and spend money to promote it before it will succeed. The main difference between a typical business and starting a home business is that you reap all the reward for yourself.

3. In starting a home business learning is going to be constant. You are going to have to constantly learn and improve what you know and what you are doing. The best way to do this is to be in touch with those who have already started their own home based business and are already a success in their chosen field. These people more often than not are willing to help you because someone helped them when they were starting a home business of their own.

4. You also have to stay focused when starting a home business. In order for it to be successful you have to choose a business and stay with it, do not hop around with various opportunities. You are not going to come across a business that became successful immediately, so give an opportunity time. You will waste a lot of time and money trying to look for quick success, so stay with an opportunity that you think is good and give it time to grow.

We all have our own reasons for starting a home business, what the reasons are does not matter. What matters is that you are committed to it and that you are continuously working to make it happen.

What Do You Expect From Your Coffee Shop?

Posted on : 24-02-2009 | By : admin | In : Management

When was the last time you visited a high street coffee shop?

In the last 5 minutes?

In the last hour?

Yesterday?

Last week?

Last month?

Never?

Over the last 10 years coffee shops are one of the fastest growing retailers.

More and more are being established.

I know in my local town whenever a shop closes, it often re-opens as a coffee franchise. Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Tchibo, Nero…there are many to choose from.

And no matter how many there are in each town, you always have to queue. So many people are now finding the time and money to have a coffee with friends. Relax a bit, have a good gossip and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Or maybe, you go there to work on the free wi-fi offering.

I’m lucky enough to live by the sea and often my wife and I go out for a cup of coffee overlooking the sea. You know spur of the moment thing.

“Fancy a coffee?”

“Yes, I’ll put the kettle on”

“No, let’s go to Costa’s”

“Great idea…”

A few years ago you would never have guessed we would pay $3 or $4 for an ordinary cup of coffee. But we all do, don’t we?

This weekend just gone, we decided to take a visit into town just for a cup of coffee.

“We’ll go to…”

“Yeah, sounds good”

When we arrived we changed our minds on where to go.

We saw a ‘better’ coffee shop open.

So what do you look for in your favourite coffee shop?

What makes you go back time and time again?

Some would say – “simply good tasting coffee”

Others would say – “a wide selection of great tasting coffees and cakes”

Others want -  “a wide selection of great tasting coffees and cakes plus well trained staff, a smile and an efficient service, maybe with free wi-fi”

What about – “a wide selection of great tasting coffees and cakes plus well trained staff, a smile and an efficient service with free wi-fi and they know your name”

Which statement would make you give 10 out of 10?

My wife and I go to relax, so the following is important to us:

1.    A nice comfy sofa
2.    Great tasting coffee
3.    A good selection of cakes to choose from
4.    Service with a smile

And if we can see by the window ‘people watching’, even better.

That’s it – we are easily pleased. But so many coffee shops just don’t provide all 4 of our needs. They may just offer points, 2, 3 and 4 but point 1 is so important!

Or 1, 2 and 3, but point 4 is also important to us!

So what do you look for in a coffee shop for you to go back time and time again?

Improving your finances – InvestorBlogger

Posted on : 18-04-2008 | By : admin | In : Investing

While trying to find some ways to make a few extra bucks, in addition to my freelance work, I found this site at SocialSpark. The site’s called InvestorBlogger and it’s a great resource for those wanting some advice on investing their money in a safe manner.

The aim of this website is to encourage people to find alternative passive income streams, by focusing on:

  • Minimizing unnecessary expenses, using self-discipline as the main weapon
  • Creating new income streams (active/passive)
  • Trying to replace salary-based income with automatic income streams. The author uses himself as an example of what should be done and what should be avoided, and at the same time, fill in on things learned along the way.

There are countless ways to improve your finances, but this site will give you a head-start and some direction, so if you’re unsure how to invest your time and money, you should pay this site a visit.
