I have owned several computers over the last 20 years, from a CZ Spectrum to my new Athlon XP 64 Desktop. Over all these years, I’ve been involved in many projects, most of them related to complex application development so I have had my share of of error codes and blue screens (or computer freezes) over those years and nothing stumps you as much as a blank screen with nothing more than an error code, usually in hex code so you don’t even really know what number it is until you use a conversion tool.

I mean, would you know what to do if you saw a error code 1728? Don’t feel alone if you don’t know, because there are thousands of codes and messages and they don’t really help unless you have some way of finding what the error means and how to try and solve it.

Well, I have found such a place and it’s called The PC-Library and it is the place you want to visit if you want to learn what those error codes and messages mean. This free online library shows you exactly what these numbers mean and this will allow you (or the PC repair man) to decide just how serious of a problem it might be and how to best deal with it.
By the way, the message above means that an application has suffered A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error, meaning that it attempted to access a service (usually on a remote machine) and has failed. Just in case you were wondering….
