In business, as well as in what regards the environment, recycling is something that you can never have too much because recycling means savings on your business’ bottom line and it means a great deal to the environment as we don’t pollute it as much. And with modern technologies, recycling can take new, innovative forms and help your company (and the environment) in new ways, previously unheard of.

and a customized tracker for your local election (to the level of your state), which is automatically inserted into your CNN homepage (I wish it tracked my city propositions too, maybe next time)…

Then there’s the uber geeky fivethirtyeight.comwho has been tweaking algorithms for weeks…

And what a smart idea—donate your status on facebook to get out the word to vote. I signed up on Sunday and almost a million more people have signed up in the last 48 hours. It automatically updates so that your network sees a refreshed message every few hours. It’s actually moving to see everyone’s status that has been donated, almost like being at a live rally…

Oh Marshall McLuhan would be proud.

Just a short clip from a parade that went by my house in Seattle a little after midnight and lasted about 20 minutes. I’m not sure where these folks were coming from, I assume from the university district neighborhood, and I assume they were headed into Capitol Hill to join the larger crowds. My guess is that there were about close to 2,000 people in all.

Here’s a stat for you: new users to twitter increased 135 percent during the presidential debate. Updates were up 160 percent during the debate as well, according to the twitter blog and reported in Wired as well.

It’s been interesting to watch twitter be adopted by different groups. The first group was the geeks — anyone at SXSW in 2006 most certainly got the twitter bug. Then we saw a series of disasters that required quick coordination (such as the fires in southern California in the fall of 2007) attract another group of people.

In the last six months the corporate presence on twitter has certainly increased with new accounts from MyStarbucksIdea, Verizon, and Whole Foods Market.

So now we have the political audience as well. Wonder who’ll be next?
