I don’t know about you but I’m quite fond of Manga stories. We have read some news posts that Providence Anime Conference and Viz Pictures have announced a contest that’s open for anyone registered for the launch of the convention and have a chance to win tickets to see the live-action DeathNote movie in selected theaters across the US.

When a Shinigami (死神, death god) drops a notebook that kill those named in its pages. From then on, chaos ensues as a legendary detective and star student face off against each other in a mental chess match for the fate of the world.

deathnote posterNow, here’s the juicy part. For two nights only, Viz Pictures is bringing a live-action adaptation of the acclaimed manga series to selected theaters, complete with a special 20-minute “behind the scenes” view of this popular manga’s translation into a live action movie.

Four lucky PAC attendees will win a pair of tickets (each) to the screening of this “R”-equivalent rated (it hasn’t been officially rated yet) film at 7:30 PM on May 21st, presented in HD at the Warwick Showcase Cinemas (1200 Quaker Lane, Warwick, RI 02886).

How to register and enter the drawing? Send an email with to deathnote@providenceanime.com with:

  • your name,
  • registration verification code,
  • subject line: “PAC Death Note Tickets”

There’s a limit of one entry per attendee. Entries must be received by 11:59 PM ET on May 16, 2008, and winners will be contacted via email. Tickets will only be valid for the May 21st screening, so you better make sure you don’t schedule anything for that evening.
