Unless you were blessed with a huge trustfund, or have created a brilliant idea and sold it for a zillion dollars, you need to a job to make a decent living for you and your family. A good job is something we all desire but not all can get our hands into. It doesn’t matter what area you intend to work - software development, accounting, security guard - we’ve all been in a position where we need a job and can’t seem to find one.

The problem is, we can’t know about all the jobs that are opening in our area, even if we buy every newspaper in our town. Some jobs simply aren’t published there. In the last few years, things got a whole lot simpler,  thanks to several job portals filled exciting job offers. They have become a very effective way to seek jobs, and to publish job openings too, which makes it even more attractive for companies to publish them in the first place. No me more filling forms by hand, as most of these sites offer online application forms, making a lot easier to apply for a job (even simpler if our browser has form-filling capabilities turned on).

All you need to do is register your CV in these job portals and the companies will look at it, and get back to yo when they have openings suited for your qualifications. They look for you, not the other way around. This makes it simple for, say, companies that are hiring in Minnesota to find workers from all over the US, not only in the sorrounding towns and cities. They just publish the job description at Star Tribune and they’ll get a list of all the people interested in Minneapolis jobs.

These job portals also offer career advice to its members, which nicely complements the skills of the people looking for jobs by offering some tips on how to apply, prepare a resumé and also some pointers on how to choose a job that’s related to his/her skills and desire income levels.
